Elizium was brought to life about fifteen years ago by the two of us, Maria Joseph and Martha Cullinan. At first we had a small stall in Camden market on a Friday, selling shirts, skirts and hand made jewellery. In 1993 we managed to swing a stall on Thursdays as well and with more money coming in we started to expand. By 1995 we were running at our regular stalls through all four days the market is open for. The range of stock increased to cover, as far as space allows an ever growing range of alternative clothing and dress styles including cloaks, coats, corsetry and rubber in an attempt to satisfy the demands of all our customers.
| Mia hails from up north somewhere but has resided in North London since she was an infant. She became a Goth in the early eighties, after a brief time as a New Romantic. She modelled for a while and was even a nanny for a bit but eventually her strong business sense and deep rooted love of gothic and alternative clothing and music steered her toward starting Elizium. |

Martha landed on this blessed isle from Holland, not the most liberal place anywhere outside Amsterdam. She was a fan of Black Rock back home so Gothic was only a small step. Settling in North London she met Mia and after a conversation in the pub one day Elizium was born |
In 1996 the Elizium Clothing Label was created and we started to design our own range of gothic garb. All our range is designed by Maria (Mia), the spray designs, conceived once again by Mia, are designed, with the odd exception, by our own artists and are exclusive to Elizium. These and many other styles we carry are available wholesale.
